A Guide on How to install PSP Custom Firmware 5.00 M33-6 Download PSP Custom Firmware 5.00 M33-6 .Where can I find PSP Custom Firmware 5.00 M33? I want a new PSP custom firmware and I want to install it in my PSP.
1.- Download the 5.00 M33-6 update.
2.- Uncompress the contents of the “500m33_6” file into a handy location your HD. Browse the uncompressed contents in your HD, and you will see a folder called UPDATE.
3.- Connect your PSP to your PC via USB cable and enable the USB Mode on your PSP.
4.- From your Operative System, go to the directory :/PSP/GAME located in your memory stick.
5.- Copy the UPDATE folder and its contents, into the folder :/PSP/GAME of your Memory Stick. If it asks you to overwrite any files, confirm with “Yes”.
NOTE: If you’re running a M33 custom firmware below 5.00 M33 then you need to download the official Sony 5.00 update file here. Unzip the “PSP_500_FW_UPDATE” file and rename the included EBOOT file to 500.PBP. Place the 500.PBP file into the UPDATE folder with the EBOOT file.
6.- Disable the USB Mode safely and disconnect the PSP from the PC.
7.- In the PSP’s XMB Menu, go to “Game” -> “Memory Stick”
8.- Highlight the M33 Updater and press X button to execute the program.
9.- A black screen with some text will pop up. Press X, and the Update will be installed.
NOTE: If you’re updating from a M33 custom firmware below 5.00 M33 you are now installing the custom firmware 5.00 M33. Choose your timezone and then in the end press X to restart (you might think it looks like as if it’s installing the official 5.00 firmware, but it is not). Your PSP will now reboot and you will get a blue screen with some text in different languages. Make sure you press O. Do not skip this step by shutting down the PSP using the On/Off Switch or otherwise you’ll end up with a brick. Your PSP will now reboot.
10.- Check your PSP Settigs Menu (Settings -> System Settings -> System Information). You should be now in 5.00 M33-6.
Changes in 5.00 M33-5:
- A setting has been added to recovery, that, when enabled it may increase memory stick reading speed. (only on the psp, not in the pc).
By default it is disabled. If you installed 3.71 fatmsmod, do not use this setting, as its perfomance with 3.71 driver has not been tested.
Instead, reinstall 5.00 m33-4 using dc8 and update to 5.00 m33-5
Changes in 5.00 M33-6:
- Fixed a bug in 5.00 M33-6 that made unbootable psp without memory stick or with a bad one.
The included file fat_comparison.html contains a comparison of perfomance between the 5.00 fat driver, the 3.71 one, and the 5.00 one with the speed up hack during the read of an iso.
The test was done on the game Valkyrie Profile in cso format in march33 mode. Other games, modes and applications different than iso reading showed similar results.
