Samsung launches another Galaxy S variant, the dual display Samsung Continuum

Samsung has launched another member of the Galaxy S class, called the Samsung Continuum, which noticeably differs from previous iterations with the inclusion of a secondary 1.8-inch ‘ticker’ (480x96 pixel) Super AMOLED screen below its Android buttons and primary 3.4-inch Super AMOLED screen.

Running Android 2.1 (Éclair) out of the box, the Samsung Continuum’s secondary display will provide alerts, notifications and display time, and is activated with capacitive touch sensors which Samsung calls “grip sensors” alongside the screen. For now, the phone, just like the many other American Galaxy S iterations, is tied to a carrier – in this case Verizon Wireless. It’s priced at $199 with a $100 mail-in rebate.
