Dota-allstars 6.70 Map released!

Dota-allstars 6.70 Map released! An early Christmas gift to all dota fans and players which we can download a new map version. This is specially made by Icefrog, the map has a new loadscreen, 2 new heroes which I am also very excited to see and play who's the 2 new heroes, and 3 new items and various misc improvements.You can download the map at www.getdota.com website. I will post the changelog a little later.

Dota 6.63 - Dota Allstars 6.63 Map Download, Changelogs - News & Updates

You may now read what Icefrog posted on his blog about the upcoming release of Dota-Allstars 6.63. Read below!

The 6.62 release seems to be a smooth one so far, no major bugs reported yet.
I am starting 6.63 development now. This patch will be primarily focused on balance improvements.
If there are any changes you'd like to suggest, please feel free. When making recommendations though, try to explain why you think a change would be good and what level of play you refer to.

I don't know the release date. If we don't need a 6.62b, then 6.63 will immediately start development. It will be mostly balance changes, so it won't be a long time like the previous ones.

I created this post because I really love to share to all dota players who loves to play Ai and insane heroes. Will give you some updates for this Ai maps if ever it is released. So it looks like the 1.24 situation is much more sticky than I realised. Given that, I think after I finish this testing phase I'll go ahead and post what I've got for everyone to take a swing at.
THIS MEANS IT WILL ONLY WORK ON 1.23 OR EARLIER. PLEASE DON'T E-MAIL ME SAYING THE MAP DOESN'T WORK ON 1.24. I KNOW IT DOESN'T.

This version is more or less a total compatibility overhaul of the script - I haven't had a chance to do many of the rewrites I wanted to, but at the very least most things should be working properly and should be somewhat adequate to allow people to play/practice new heroes/items/builds/whatever.

Because of this, some abilities will not be used properly (or at all) by the AI, but this will be addressed in future versions. The bots will, however, learn all of their abilities (or should). I haven't finished rewriting the levelling system but what's in place should be okay for now.

I've also disabled several game modes and commands until they can be made AI-compatible. Any game mode that requires voting or choosing outside of normal picking methods has been temporarily disabled until I have time to teach the script to play with these modes (-vr, -rv, -rd, -cd, -cm). I've also disabled league modes (-lm, -xl) because, really, who plays league matches with the AI map? The new -so mode has also been disabled.

The -afk and -kickafk commands are disabled, since you should never need them in an AI map, as well as -ah (maphacking against AI bots, really?). -switch is out also because there's no need with -so disabled.

I haven't had time to update the -fun content either, so for now it's been disabled. I will bring this back concurrently while updating the script.

I've modified -pa and -pe to work with the new Tavern system and location, so at least you'll still be able to pick heroes for your allies and for the AI. The item builds have been updated for compatibility ONLY, which means they'll still get the same old items as before. If people are still interested in contributing we might try reviving some threads in the OpenAI forums that address this.

There are also some -dm bugs that I can't quite figure out. I've disabled Dazzle in -dm (much like Meepo is disabled in -dm) because, inexplicably, the game crashes when Dazzle is picked during a deathmatch game. I think some other hero is causing the game to crash, but I can't figure out which (my guess is Huskar). It seems dependent on when heroes are picked and such, so after I post you guys can try to figure it out. =P

I've also renamed the map from "Dota Allstars 6.61b AI+ 1.52" to "DotA Allstars 6.61b AI v0.21". Why "v0.21"? Because it seemed like a good number at the time. =P After all the rewrites and compatibility changes, this is starting to look less and less like the AI we all know and love and more like something else, so I'll go ahead and declare this the beginning of a new stage of AI development. Yay.

Credits still go to cloud_str and RGB. Without their work and dedication this map would not be possible.

Expect an update and a download within the week.

"This version most likely has many broken abilities and functions right now. A huge amount of code has been at least partially rewritten for this patch. Various untested new functions in Warcraft 1.24 Patch are being used, anything can go wrong.

The first step is to have everyone here test in either single player or with a couple other people, test everything in the game and report which ones are broken.

There should be zero functional changes between 6.62 and 6.61b. If you aren't sure if something is bugged or not compare it with 6.61b.

The only concern for this version right now is to make sure the map code is functional. Do not use these subforums to report anything unless it is an issue that is unique for 6.62/1.24 or to use it as a suggestion forum. There are many potential issues so we need to keep things organized and focused on the task at hand.

The bugs aren't just limited to abilities. Items, commands, game modes, game behavior, rules, upgrades, timers, etc are all vulnerable to bugs.

After we pass Phase 1 of the testing (testing by yourself or with a group of people on westfall), we will then start to do regular 5v5 games to find what other bugs were missed. You can do these games now if you want as well, but we will formally start them after we have had extensive tests on the rest of the stuff first. There are many bugs that will only be easy to catch in multiplayer though, so you are encouraged to try and play with a few people at least.

The Dota Allstars OMG Mode:-

Dota OMG is the map based on one of latest DotA Allstars map (currently 6.61b), with one big change — heroes allowed to have any ability.

There are two ways to change hero's skill set — random or pick. Every of them can be activated using it own mode, which must be writen with other game modes.

1. Random abilities

When any hero appears in game (was picked or randomed) it gains 3 random standart abilities and 1 random ultimate. They are random from pool of avaible abilities and go throught some checks (details below).

- can be activated by typing -ra with other game modes; more interesting and fun games are with -ardm mode, so blue player must type -ardmra like gamemode
- compatible with every game mode, except -ad

2. Abilities Draft

Every player can choose 3 standart abilities and 1 ultimate for his hero. Picking goes in a draft style. Abilities can be bought in taverns, which are filled with 66 standart abilities and 22 ultimates randomed from pool of avaible abilities.

There are tips for every ability in tavern, which contain its name, main hero (which have this ability in normal game), hotkey, some properties and list of unstackable abilities. Also there is a clever checking system which prevents your hero from learning unstackable abilities and some other bugs.

Draft process.
1. Every player must pick/get a hero. This heroes will be on pause. If someone leaves without hero, anyone must type -recheck to refresh game info about players. Draft will start when every player gets a hero.
2. When game says about draft start, 8 of 9 taverns will be filled with 66 standart abilities and 22 ultimates. Every player has 60 seconds to learn the assortment of abilities.
3. Draft starts after this time. It goes in 3 phases:
- 1st phase: blue/pink/orange/brown player starts, every player can learn 2 standart skills or 1 ultimate on his turn
- 2nd phase: brown/orange/pink/blue player starts, every player can learn 1 standart skills or 1 ultimate on his turn
- 3rd phase: blue/pink/orange/brown player starts, every player can learn up to 2 standart skills or 1 ultimate on his turn
Every phase goes in well-known 1-2-2-2-2-1 draft order. Every player has 15 seconds for every turn.
If you didn't learn something, you will get money to learn it after all 3 phases.
4. When your hero learns 3 standart skills and 1 ultimate, it will be unpaused and you'll get back your gold status before draft.
After draft ends creeps will go in 1 minute.
Warning! Sometimes you can get a bug with shops, so you can't buy anything. Your hero must get out from buying range and then get back to shops. Please, be patient to this bug. Sorry for it.

- uncompatible with -ra, -rd, -cd and -dm modes
There a special game mode Duplicate Abilities (can be activated by typing -da), which allows for players to pick same abilities.

Special commands.
-skills — shows current abilities of your hero with some numbers, which is useful when you found a bug
-banbloodstone (-banbs)(only blue player) — after a lot of games on -ra players start to annoying, when someone creates a Bloodstone, because of it's imbaness in this mode and game becomes boring, so this command makes Bloodstone useless, because it gives 4x negative regeneration from every charge.
-recheck (only in -ad) — refreshes game info about players
-showprocess (only in -ad)(only blue player) — shows picking abilities process to everyone (who and what picked)

Checking system.
Many abilities in DotA are based on same abilities from Warcraft, and they have same orders. If 1 hero gets 2 abilities with same orders then they will be used at one moment or will work only 1 of them. Because of this, when game or player chooses ability, it goes throught special checking for compatible of abilities, that already hero has.
Some abilities can be used only on melee or ranged attack, so abilities goes throught hero attack type checking. Also, some abilities takes 2 or more active icons after learning, and if there is no more place, some abilities may disappear. To prevent it, there is a checking of this.
Totally: your hero will never get uncompatible abilities, will never get abilities for melee(ranged) attack, if it is ranged(melee), also you will never lose your skills.

This mode might eventually be part of the map, but it is not as simple as everyone thinks to add to a map that is always being developed because of lots of extra things that have to be done. It is easier for me to just add it after a map is published, like with the AI maps. So I will just update this one in meantime.

I would like to inform you guys who loves playing Dota that Official Dota Allstars 6.61c map will soon be released. Icefrog is planning to release Dota 6.61c map if there are still bugs and exploits left in Dota 6.61b but according to the source there's no any chance to have bugs in 6.61b. Anyway, I'll keep you updated as soon as Dota map 6.61 will be released.

I've started working on this on last Saturday. It will be a fast patch aimed at balance improvements. Let me know what things you feel need changes.
