Canon's new EOS 60D DSLR camera has a vari-angle LCD screen, HD video capability, and an 18 megapixel resolution...and prices starting at $1,099.
Canon has announced the latest addition to its DSLR camera line, the Canon EOS 60D. The EOS 60D builds aims to made DLSRs easier to user by combining advanced photography features with automatic and in-camera technologies designed to simplify shooting and inspire creativity—plus, the EOS 60D sports an 18 megapixel resolution can can shoot 1080p high-definition video.
“The EOS 60D has been designed to offer the image-capture and the Full HD video features customers are looking for as they continue to expand their photographic skills,” said Canon Imaging Group executive VP and general manager Yuichi Ishizuka, in a statement. “We want everyone to experience the great image quality a Canon DSLR can offer with features and functions that they will appreciate and use.”
The EOS 60D follows in the footsteps of the Canon EOS 50D and features a DIGIC 4 image processor, a vari-angle 3-inch LCD viewfinder display, and a new Multi-Control Dial that places a multi-controller and set button inside the Quick Control Dial to enable faster navigation of the camera’s interface for both vertical and horizontal shooting; Canon has also thrown in a locking mode dial that prevents accidental changes to the camera’s setup while shooting. The EOS 60D features a nine-point autofocus, and a burst mode that can shoot 5.3 full-resolution images per second to capture action. The camera supports SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards.
The EOS 60D features in-camera processing features, including the ability to process RAW image files for white balance, color space, noise reduction, distortion, and color aberrations. The camera also has low-light capabilities, with an ISO range down to 6,400 that Canon says is extendable down to 12,800.
The Canon EOS 60D should go on sale this September with a suggested price of !,099 for a body-only kit; with Canon’s EF-S 18–135mm ƒ/3.5–5.6 IS zoom lens the price goes up to $1,399.
