Virgin Mobile has announced a partnership deal with GetJar, who claim to be world's largest cross-platform mobile applications store. This partnership offers Virgin Mobile customers free access to a wide array of mobile applications including: games, education, social networking, entertainment, finance, food, health, search, lifestyle and several other utility applications.
Although the access to the app catalog and application download service is provided free of cost, the user has to bear the data browsing charges, which are at 1p/kb (paise/kilobit). The access to GetJar's new mobile store is said to be available across various states in India including: Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu & Chennai, Kerala, Orissa, Mumbai & Maharashtra, Kolkata & West Bengal, Haryana, Bihar, MP&CG, Punjab, UP (E) and UP (W).
